Mengham Junior School is situated on Hayling Island, close to the beach and offers a stimulating environment with wonderful school grounds in which to learn and work.

We are looking to appoint an experienced, inspirational, dynamic teacher to help us realise this goal.

The successful candidate will be working with a dedicated, forward-thinking team to support and challenge junior school children in all areas of the curriculum.

Whilst this is a post for a year 6 maternity cover, depending on government guidelines, the appointed candidate may be required to carry out team teaching, boosting and recovery tutoring for a term prior to leading a year 6 class. 

It is also worth noting that from September, the appointed candidate may be required to teach in a different year group if teachers are redeployed for the new academic year.

We are looking to recruit an experienced, professional and enthusiastic Administrative Assistant with excellent communication skills and a friendly and approachable manner to join our hard-working office team.  The ideal candidate will have proven IT skills to include word processing, mail merge, spreadsheets, email and school-based software.

The successful candidate will need to:

  • Have experience of working in a school administration environment
  • Have excellent administration and organisational skills
  • Have good communication skills (oral and written) enabling them to communicate clearly and effectively at all times.
  • Be proactive, working from their own initiative with the ability to prioritise tasks to meet deadlines
  • Have GCSE (or equivalent) Maths and English Grade C or above qualification
  • Have a sound knowledge of Microsoft packages especially Word and Excel
  • Have proficient computer and keyboard skills
  • Have excellent time management skills and be able to work under pressure with interruptions
  • Have experience of updating the school’s website or similar
  • Have experience of Arbor or similar database e.g. SIMS
  • Have experience of TUCASI or similar cash office system
  • Have a First Aid qualification or be prepared to train
  • Have a high level of confidentiality and safeguarding knowledge although training will be provided
  • Have a ‘can do’ and flexible approach to all aspects of the role

Duties will include, but are not limited to, pupil attendance updating and tracking, general office/administrative tasks, reception duties, receiving and recording of monies for trips and lunches, updating the school website.

Our vacancy is for 32.5 hours per week, 40 weeks per year to include all 39 weeks of the school year plus a week during the holiday period.

Our office hours are from Monday to Friday 8.30 a.m. – 4.00 p.m. and members of the office team co-ordinate lunch breaks to ensure appropriate staffing levels are maintained.

Salary will be based on experience and will start within the B Grade range of £18,562 – £18,877  FTE.

Job/Person Summary

We are seeking a Lunchtime Supervisory Assistant to join our friendly team. 

You will need to be flexible, have experience of working with children, ensure confidentiality and safeguarding is given high regard and be willing to undertake basic first aid training.

Main duties will include

  • Promoting the effective care and wellbeing of children
  • Effectively supervising pupils in the lunch hall, in their classrooms or outside on the playground  
  • Encouraging positive play
  • Ensuring the safety, welfare and good conduct of pupils
  • Promoting healthy eating
  • Ensuring any issues are dealt with in a positive and thoughtful manner in line with school safeguarding and behaviour management policies
  • Assisting with associated duties, e.g. cleaning up spillages, ensuring tables are clean etc.
  • Basic First Aid – training will be provided.
